Pregnancy is finally over, now you are ready to go home with your little bundle of joy. Having a baby is a wonderful thing; it brings endless moments of joy to the new parents. Parents, especially first-timers, would love to spend every minute of the day and night with their baby, but it’s just not possible. With a baby monitor, you can still hear your baby’s breathing and hear every little movement, which is almost as good as being in the room with them.

Typically, a baby monitor is an electronic device that allows you to hear your baby crying even if you are in another part of your house. Baby monitors come in two pieces. The transmitter, which is placed in the baby’s room, and the receiver that is placed in whatever room you are in.

Different types of baby monitors are available, there are audio and audio-visual baby monitors as well as specialized ones that can even sense the body movements and breathing of the baby. For something as essential as a monitor, it’s worth getting the best model you can afford.

The most popular kind of baby monitor is by far the audio monitor. It has two types, which are analog and digital monitors. However, interference from other wireless devices is an important issue to consider with analog monitors. Opting for a baby monitor with multiple channel selection can reduce this interference. A digital monitor that uses DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) will not only give you more clarity, but is much better at reducing interference.

Audio/visual baby monitors let the parents see and hear their baby. These monitors consist of a camera unit with a microphone and a receiver unit with a TV screen and speaker. It is very important to make sure that the microphone that is attached to the camera is ultra sensitive so that you can even hear a pin drop.

There are also sensor baby monitors, which consist of sensitive pads that go underneath your baby’s mattress. Sensor monitors alert you if the sensor pad detects no movement from your baby for more than twenty seconds, it is capable of detecting even the tiniest of movement. These monitors are very helpful in the prevention of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

In this day and age, there are a number of safety measures we all must abide by to ensure the well being of our babies. In the home, a baby monitor can be a great device allowing you to keep tabs on your little one; it offers parents an added element of safety and security.

Overall, a baby monitor is a very useful thing to have in taking care of our little ones. But never forget that a monitor can never replace proper parental care. You should never leave your baby unattended for long periods (even while sleeping, check on them from time to time). Finding a reliable baby monitor online is quite easy, with quick shipping directly to your front door.
