Having a baby brings a new set of challenges for you and your family. You need to find a way to transport your new addition to help make your life easier. Baby carriers are an excellent way keep your baby close to you and still have flexibility. There are many different carriers to choose from and determining which is right for you and your family may seem a bit daunting. Here are some ideas to help you make the choice which will fit your needs.

Keep in mind there may not be a right “one” carrier; you may want to have a couple of different carriers for different situations. Here is a summary of some of the most popular baby carriers available with some of the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Some baby carriers allow you to “wear” your baby close to you. The most common of these carriers are baby slings. Baby slings are made of soft fabrics. They may be padded or unpadded. The sling generally refers to an adjustable, fabric carrier made of fabric with a ring that allows the wearer to lengthen or shorten a “tail” of fabric to fit the wearer of the sling and the baby they are carrying.

Once you learn how to properly adjust them, proponents of baby slings say they are the carrier of choice. One sling can adjust to any size adult caregiver, which is a plus. They are versatile and work well for nursing discreetly in public. There is a learning curve to figure out how to accurately adjust the fabric through the rings.

Another baby carrier that holds the baby close to the caregiver is the baby pouch. Similar to the baby sling, the pouch is made from a folded piece of cloth. However, the pouch uses a folded length of fabric, forming a pouch for the baby. The ends are fastened or sewn together, so that it is unnecessary to adjust the carrier. The pouch is easy to use, but needs to be properly fitted for a snug baby carry. It goes over one shoulder like the sling so your baby’s weight is all on one side.

Another unstructured baby carrier is the mei tai carrier. This Asian-inspired carrier is a soft carrier which has straps that fit over both shoulders, making it an ideal carrier for larger babies and toddlers. Although most wearers can fit a standard size, some manufacturers make extra large or small sizes as well. It’s especially effective for a back carry, although not necessarily for a newborn.

A wrap is a baby carrier that can be very versatile. The long piece of fabric distributes the baby’s weight over both shoulders, and it can be configured in many ways: back carry, hip, front, etc. If the wearer pre-ties the wrap, it can be used quickly for quick trips. However, the long piece of fabric can sometimes be bulky to store, and can be intimidating to a new user. There is a learning curve in mastering the different ties which are possible with the wrap style carrier.

Besides these soft, baby-wearing baby carriers, there are a variety of framed and unframed backpacks and front carriers for outdoor adventures. No matter which you choose, you and your baby will enjoy the closeness, bonding and convenience baby carriers provide you and your family.

There are a variety of baby carriers out there – ranging from simple to complicated. All of them offer a wide range of fabrics, colors and patterns. Carriers are usually broken down into categories depending on the amount of hardware used. Some have rings, straps, or latches. Others use just the length of the fabric and strength of the wrapping to create a lot of comfort and versatility. Soft carries, slings, pouches and hip carriers are the most common categories.

The Moby wrap is known as the simplest and most comfortable 5.5 meters of fabric you’ll ever carry a baby in. A Moby, as they are known, is available in a variety of colors that are excellent at repelling stains and supporting a child up to 35 lbs in weight. Moby also makes a line of socks called Baby Legs that are designed to match or compliment your Moby wrap.

The Moby is also known as the most versatile baby wrap on the market – offering nine possible ways of tying the Moby to facilitate different holds. All Mobys come with detailed instructions and on the Internet there is a tutorial video you can watch that will help you learn how to get the most of your Moby.

‘Mei tei’ is another popular style that is also referred to as being an Asian style carrier that offers front, back or hip carries with a padded shoulder and waist straps. They are one-size-fits-all and suitable for use with kids up to 35 pounds. They are also reversible to a solid color so mom, dad, or any caregiver can feel comfortable using it.

ERGO is a kind of soft carrier that is highly structured so not as versatile, meaning you only have the option of baby facing out or baby facing in.

Two popular sling styles are the Maya and the Ellaroo. The Maya has a padded shoulder and uses a large ring that you thread the material through to create a style well suited for discreet breastfeeding. The Maya even has a model of sling where you don’t have to rethread it after changing a diaper. The Maya is woven cotton and the Ellaroo is organic non-woven cotton. Both have padded shoulders and Ellaroo has padded rails. In reviews, the Maya is preferred and considered to be the superior product, though trying any baby carrier is the only way to know if it works for you or not.

The best way to figure out what kind of wrap, sling, pouch, soft carrier, etc. will be best for you is to figure out which way is most comfortable for you wear your baby, then look for comparison charts that graph the versatility or lack thereof of many different brands.

For parents who love to spend time meaningfully yet stay close to their baby, front baby carriers are an excellent choice. The best part of using front baby carriers is that you can use it even for one month old babies. It is totally safe because your baby’s head would be supported by a secure and padded headrest. In case your baby is older, the headrest can be folded away.

So, investing in good quality front baby carriers is a great choice for parents who want to enjoy safety and proximity with their little one.

Features of Front Baby Carriers

Front baby carriers are usually made from either a cotton or nylon fabric seat with holes cut in the bottom to accommodate a baby’s legs. There are built-in straps to hook around both shoulders. These front baby carriers have a firm structure and an ergonomic design which helps to distribute a baby’s weight evenly.

An added advantage is that these carriers make it easier for parents to carry a child for longer periods.

Buying Front Baby Carriers

Front baby carriers are not easy to choose as a few basic points need to be kept in mind before making a purchase. Here are some relevant points to consider while buying a front baby carrier:

Wear the carrier once to check whether it is comfortable or not.
Check the softness of the cloth from which it has been made. Rough or coarse fabric may cause discomfort to the baby.

Check whether it can be worn easily without help from others.
Check whether the fabric is washable.
Check whether removable seats are there or not.
Check for padding as it generally keeps the baby warm.
Avoid bulky padding as it makes it difficult to carry a baby.
Check if the carrier can be adjusted according to the size of the user/caregiver.
Check if waists belts are provided as it lets a parent remain active and stress-free.
Check whether the carrier has a removable seat or not. It is very useful when the baby falls asleep in the carrier and can be laid down for a nap.

Attached to Baby is the most trusted name in perfect baby carriers and offers a wide variety of slings, carriers, wraps and baby wearing accessories.

Among all baby carriers, seven reviews agree the original Baby Bjorn is the best. Babies can face in or out, and the carrier allows parents to simply unsnap the front section to remove sleeping babies. The straps adjust easily and take pressure off of the back. The Baby Bjorn can hold newborns if they are at least 21-inches long and eight pounds, with a maximum weight of 22 pounds. Although another version of the Baby Bjorn, the Baby Bjorn Active (*est. $120), adds more lumbar support for longer trips, the Kelty Kangaroo has more features and is as comfortable. The primary drawback here is the high price for a carrier that can’t be used once your baby reaches 22 pounds, which could be less than a year.

The results presented here were synthesized from seventeen separate reviews on the front baby carrier. According to Consumer Search, a resource that ties together the reviews of other publications, the most honest and fair reviews of baby carriers are written by parenting experts, pediatricians, child development experts and, of course parents. Also included were reviews from Consumer Reports, Epinions.com, and Amazon.com.

When it comes to traditional soft baby carriers, reviews say parents are really better off spending the money on the Baby Bjorn (*est. $80). Even though they look a lot alike, reviews say the Baby Bjorn is vastly more comfortable and convenient than the Evenflo Snugli Classic (*est. $20). The basic model, Snugli Classic, doesn’t get the best ratings for comfort on Epinions.com, but many parents prefer it for the low price. The Snugli Comfort Vent (*est. $30) has a zippered vent to keep the baby cool, and it gets decent reviews on both Epinions and Amazon.com. The Snugli By My Side (*est. $50) gets better reviews because it adapts to three different positions and has dual side-entry buckles, though some reviewers found them difficult to use. A common complaint from parents about all front carriers is the lack of back support. I found the Baby Bjorn Original selling for $49 and the Baby Bjorn Active selling for $89 on http://www.bestbabythingsonline.com. A substantial savings on both top rated carriers.

Of all the types of baby carriers available on the market today, wraparound baby carriers are the most comfortable, according to the parents who use them. This style of baby carrier wraps completely around the body, providing added support and stability that leaves both the parent and baby feeling more comfortable and secure. The extra support around the back helps distribute the baby’s weight more evenly which means less back and shoulder pain for mom or dad when wearing baby for extended periods of time. Many other baby carriers put too much of the baby’s weight on one shoulder which can create an imbalance and can leave the shoulder sore and uncomfortable. If a carrier is uncomfortable, this can lead to less frequent baby wearing. Since the main purpose of using a baby carrier is to make caring for baby easier and less stressful, an uncomfortable fit is not a desired feature.

Another great advantage of the wraparound baby carrier is its versatility. Wraparound baby carriers can be wrapped into many different positions, which allow for variety and flexibility with the purchase of only one carrier. For example, baby may be worn in front for nursing. If mom or dad need to use their hand quite a bit, baby can be placed to one side or the other to allow whatever activity is planned. Baby can even be worn on the back, which allows mom to tackle a wider variety of tasks, such as cooking, that may be unsafe with baby on the front. Overall, tasks like folding laundry, vacuuming the floor and even getting in some exercise become easier with baby securely wrapped around mom or dad. Wraparound baby carriers help soothe baby with the gentle movements they create and help soothe parents frayed nerves since baby is relaxed.

Most newborns respond well to swaddling, and wraparound baby carriers are an excellent way to provide that feeling for your infant. As you baby grows, the way you use your wraparound baby carrier can be modified to meet the changing needs of your baby. As he or she gains head control, the desire for more interaction with the outside world and family members may dictate less use of the cradle carry technique and more wrapping styles where baby can see his or her surroundings, such as the kangaroo carry. There is much evidence to support that babies are happier and healthier when they are given as much physical contact with their parents as possible.

Although there are many advantages for using wraparound baby carriers, there are a few disadvantages as well. Since there are so many ways to configure a wraparound carrier, the learning curve for use is a bit longer than some other carrier styles. And some of the back carries are hardest to learn. Most wraparound carriers have a large amount of fabric and some wearers feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of fabric there is to wrap. Sometimes moms and dads feel hot because of the amount of fabric and of course baby’s warmth as well. And finally, with so much fabric, sometimes it drags on the ground and can get dirty.

Overall, wearing your baby in a comfortable baby carrier such as the wraparound baby carrier provides for this interaction without letting everything and everyone else in the family suffer. And baby isn’t the only one who benefits from the closeness and connectivity of being worn. Moms and Dads will find themselves less stressed and enjoying the bonding experience more and more everyday.

How do you want to carry your baby? Many parents find using traditional baby slings a little tedious because of the numerous straps, rings, or clasps associated with them. Typical hand-held baby carriers are bulky, heavier, and can be difficult to carry. If you’re looking to cement parent-child bonding that continues throughout life without the challenge of rings and straps or difficulties of hand-held baby carriers, then native baby pouches may be your answer. Native baby pouches offer one of the most convenient and comfortable ways of bonding with your infant without the hassles of adjusting straps and rings.

Native baby pouches are extremely simplified baby sling carriers because they come without any buckles, straps, or strings. If you find using slings cumbersome, then a baby pouch is the best option for you. All you have to do is put on the baby pouch, put your baby in it and you are ready to go. While this sounds exactly like a regular sling operation, it is much simpler because no strapping or adjustments are required. Putting on and placing your baby into a native baby pouch takes less than 20 seconds, which is something that can be a challenge for other types of slings and baby carriers.

Apart from being extremely easy to use, native baby pouches have a number of other advantages over other types of baby carriers. For one, these are made out of natural materials, and are available in 100% cotton variants – denim and twill, et cetera. You can be sure that your baby’s skin can breathe when you carry her in a cotton pouch. Parents will also feel more comfortable with these pouches without getting all hot and sweaty under the sling.

Another major advantage of baby pouches is that they are very compact to carry. Since these native baby pouches are made entirely out of cloth, you can fold them up and keep them in your purse or diaper bag. Because of the absence of metal and plastic components, you can wash the baby pouch in your machine without harming either your machine or the sling. While native baby pouches often look very small when hung, do not worry whether they will be able to carry your baby or not, because they can carry children weighing up to 35 pounds.

There is one disadvantage associated with native baby pouches that you need to consider. Since native baby pouches do not come with any rings or buckles for adjustments, single baby pouch may not be suitable or comfortable for both parents to wear. Some manufacturers make native baby pouches in one size designed to comfortably support an “average” size person. If both you and your spouse are average size, then this should be not be an issue for you. However, if both parents are not average-sized individuals, then you may want to look for native baby pouches that are available in multiple sizes (often small, medium, and large) and purchase a baby pouch for each parent.

If you’re looking for that close bonding that comes with baby slings and want an easy-to-use sling, take the time to research the native baby pouches that are readily available for your comfort.

The small kids need intimate touch, lot of attention and they love to be carried. The http://www.babybundlers.com/ baby wrap carrier securely holds your little one very close to you and gives them a warm touch. Most of the baby wraps are specially designed for baby’s first year of life, yet you may comfortably carry your baby for as long as you desire, provided the baby feels the same as well!

Until that, time and time again you will find your baby sleeping peacefully as a baby wrap provides natural sleeping solution, no plastic, no music, no bouncy seat; it’s just you calming and soothing your baby with your warmth, your voice, your scent, your movement and your heartbeat. There is nothing lovelier and natural to put your baby to sleep than using these baby wraps .

There are many different hands free baby carriers to choose from as well, yet carrying your baby in a sleepy baby wrap will make a difference in your baby wearing experience.

The main reasons behind the effectiveness of the baby wraps include smooth support for little heads and necks especially when baby falls asleep so the baby fits just perfectly every time! Baby wraps give custom fit, so you can simply tie the baby wrap carrier snug against your body and no matter what body type you are, it will fit you pretty easily!

Baby carriers that place pressure on your baby’s pelvis feel soft on the baby’s skin. There are no pressure points on mom or baby so you may carry your baby as long as you and your baby are comfortable; it’s perfect for traveling compact and great on uneven terrain or crowded places.

Baby shower gift ideas should be sure to please them and must be adorable as well. The baby swing is a good example of as such gift because if there’s a baby, there’s a baby swing somewhere nearby or at least there should be. These Baby swings make a great baby shower gift as they calm down the baby by gently rocking him or her.

Exersaucers are another great category of baby shower gift that mom will appreciate as much as baby will. Just like a walker without wheels, an exersaucer is a play land for little tots. However, mother may not be able to use exersaucer until baby is a little older, but when baby is old enough to use it; mom will be able to get some much needed free time!

Moreover, the baby toys are also examples of baby shower gifts , including the ‘Teddy beer’ which is most desirable by a kid. These baby toys also make themselves a unique baby gift for friends, cousins, and grandchildren.

All these unique baby shower gift items can cheer up the mood of your baby and there’s nothing better than watching your baby smile and play with them! So watch them play and when they get tired put them to sleep with the help of a baby wrap!

The Ergo Baby Carrier’s great design helps support a perfect sitting position for your baby and allows for spinal growth. It dissipates a lot of baby’s weight between the hips and thighs, which helps to reduce compression of the spine a common problem with other front baby carriers. The Ergo also helps with balance helping to reduce the forward stoop and therefore improving the posture of the person wearing it.

Like any of the carriers, this one takes some practice (though this front carry is about as easy as it can get). It is possible to carry a child long distances in this carrier in great comfort for both baby and mother. At around $100 this carrier isn’t to expensive and will suit most peoples pockets.

If your looking for a great all-round front baby carrier you could do worse than this one. Take a look at the video and see what you think of the Ergo Baby Carrier.

I have 5 baby carriers. I started with a sling type carrier for my baby and tried a Moby Wrap, then the Baby Bjorn Carrier for awhile but it was hurting my already damaged back and neck! So I started looking around for a back carrier now that my baby can hold her head up (she’s 4 months now) and found this one…its so versatile! I love it. I highly recommend this carrier, especially if you have back or neck problems.
